Microsofts Answer to the Tablet PC
While there are many different computer companies that offer tablet PCs to the general public from Mac to Microsoft, the Microsoft PC Tablet is an interesting competitor among its peers. The PC tablet is usable with almost any computer that functions on a Microsoft operating system, though the tablet comes pre-loaded with Microsoft XP as its operating system. The Microsoft tablet can be used completely independently from your base computer for a variety of functions. These are all enabled by a digital pen that allows you to write in your own handwriting which is recognized by the PC, as well as create detailed drawings and even really sign your own emails.
The Microsoft tablet PC is a fully functional personal computer. It has smaller versions of all of the normal functions of your computer as well as some interesting add-ons which allow you a greater range of functionality than you would normally receive from a keyboard and mouse propelled computer. The Microsoft computer comes with a complete version of Microsoft Windows XP and extensions which allow for interface with your home computer or server, other computers through a strong wi-fi connection, as well as giving you the portability of having a small touch screen device that is roughly the size of a regular spiral bound notebook.
The ease of portability of these devices makes them a technology must-have for artists as well as engineers, who can now work while looking at their subject. It is also great for writers who like the idea of being able to write their work in their own handwriting without the added inconvenience of having to write in a notebook and then retype their work later in their computer in order to digitize the text.
The Microsoft tablet operates not only handwriting recognition software, but also speech enabled software as well as supporting basic Internet functions. The speech enabled software allows you to record data using your voice and then transfers it into digitized type, allowing for a quick download to your home computer. This is helpful for anyone who works out in the field or does a tremendous amount of research as it prevents you from having to take the time to manually transcribe your work to a word processing software once you return to your home computer. Cutting out those steps allows you to be more productive by getting more done in a shorter period of time.
The same element works to the benefit of writers who prefer to manually write out their work rather than compete mentally with a cursor on a blank page. The tablet gives you all of the experience of physically hashing out your writing on a written page with a pen, but you never have to worry about running out of pages or pen ink, only whether or not your tablet’s battery is fully charged.
The Internet functions supported by the tablet are fantastic as they allow you to take advantage of the complete mobility that the tablet PC provides while still allowing you to keep in contact with your office and emails.
