The Cure for the Common Writer: The Digital Writing Tablet
There are many people who are always writing, always looking for the one thing that will make the words that they spin come out better in a more usable format. Each writer has their own superstition about what way of transferring their ideas ultimately to paper, whether that paper is physical or virtual, works best for them. A new option for the professional writer is to use a digital writing tablet.
Digital writing tablets are fun little inventions. They can take your handwriting and transfer it to your computer in a usable format, translating your words to type instantly. For writers who prefer to handwrite their material before typing it for submission, a digital writing tablet is an ideal solution to the constant struggle to write and then transcribe your original work to your computer.
The digital writing tablet can be easily configured to recognize your handwriting using a variety of different software. The software can be anything from the most basic of recognition software which requires you to write in a specific way and will only work when the tablet is attached to the computer, up to more advanced software which will allow you to write on your tablet from anywhere at any time and will translate your natural handwriting into type easily and without errors. A stronger recognition software is better to use with the more sensitive pads as the software will easily pick up any mark that you make using the digital pen on your writing tablet.
The way in which a digital writing tablet works is that you write directly on the tablet using a special writing utensil, such as a digital pen or stylus, and it transfers directly to your computer. You can either attach the writing tablet to your computer via a USB cable and port to allow you to write and instantly see the results on your computer screen or you can purchase tablets that can be used as a stand-alone device. The stand alone device will allow you to take your tablet away from the computer, write and store all of your material to the tablet, and then transfer it to your computer once you get home.
There are many different tablets which will store up to 32GB of your work before a download is necessary. Some of them are even formatted to look like the real deal, a three-ring binder with lined pages which will show on the tablet everything that you write with the digital pen, allow you to flip through the pages just as if it were a book, and then let you download those pages to your laptop using a word processing software.
A digital writing tablet is the same size or smaller than a normal notebook and weighs about the same, making it extremely portable for the writer on the go who does not want to take their laptop with them to catch that brilliant idea that occurs when out and about. And the best part is that you will never have to worry about running out of ink.
